Arena - Week Five

***EDIT***

This challenge will be over 2 weeks! Please stay strong and fight to win!

***EDIT***

So the Final Boss for Act 1 has arrived! Staying with the style you have been using here it is:

Subject:

"The Guardian"

Has to be a character! Definition for Character is:
a person of a specified kind (usually with many eccentricities); "a real character"; "a strange character"; "a friendly eccentric"; "the capable type"; "a mental case"

Poly Count:

1200 Polys

Texture Pages:

2 512x512 pages

This can also be any combination of those sizes. For instance a 512x512 page can be broken down into 4 256x256 pages or 16 128x128 pages.

This time there is a limit on the number of texture pages but feel free to use any 'types' of pages you would like. Good luck and stay strong!

Grumblings in the arena...

My digital heart is malcontent! Only two submissions for the recap challenge?! I was hoping it was because my cyber connection was down but after waiting for a few days i see no new ones are coming...

While I am dismayed, fear not. The challenges will continue being posted only if it is myself and two lone travelers. For the 3 of us that actually have something to show I will be posting that up and I hope with the very essence of my soul that you guys will continue to fight as I do.

HA HA! So get ready for the Final Boss of Act 1!

Arena - Week Two

Welcome back gladiators!
Good work on that last challenge! Coming at you, large and in charge is Week Two's challenge and this one should be interesting! Staying with the theme you used for your shield you are to build this next subject to match!! It's the shield's counter part! Introducing...

Subject:

"Sword of the Guardian"

Poly Count:

300 Polys

Texture Pages:

256x256 - No limit on the count or type!

Again, I am not limiting you on the texture pages, so I wanted to see some amazing stuff!! 300 Polys may seem like a lot but that just gives you more room to be creative! Have fun and remember to kill in the name of... ARENA WARRIORS!

Week One - Judgement

Alright, so the entries are still trickling in and since I am a nice guy I will continue to post them up until Sunday Night. On Monday the judging process will start. Basically, what I need from all that participated is for them to pick there top three favorites. An example would be:

1st - awesome man
2nd - awesome girl with pink boots
3rd - that one guy

Once you have your top favorites e-mail em to me at arenawarriors@gmail.com. Then I will tally the votes and let everyone know!

Thanks again!

Arena - Week One

April 18th - 26th, 2008

Thought we could get it started a little early. Since it is our first one! Ok, here it goes!

Subject:

"Guardian Shield"

Poly Count:

300 Polys

Texture Pages:

256x256 - No limit on the count or type!

It is up to you to take the subject and creatively design something that matches the description. Go nuts with it. Do something standard or go completely outside of the box! Have fun but remember to stay within the Poly Count and the texture page size!

The beginning

Welcome all, to the Arena!

Here there will be weekly challenges for those brave enough to enter! They will be updated Every Week on the weekend and all are welcome to join. The purpose of these challenges is to work the creative and productive mind of our artists as well as to constantly improve their skill. I will try my best to answer any questions both about the challenge as well as game art. So without further ado, here is how it works!

Just look for the current Arena Week, do the challenge, and then e-mail me your beauty page at:

arenawarriors@gmail.com.

Challenges will consist of a subject and a maximum poly count.

The beauty page should have a beauty render of the object, a wire frame shot, and possibly a texture page(s). The size of the page should be no more then 1280x1024 and should be a .jpg.
